I am a cultural anthropologist by training, having conducted fieldwork with traditional healers in a Maya community in Chiapas, Mexico. I am a teacher by profession–cultural anthropology and interdisciplinary humanities at a community college in Iowa. I grew up in Texas, and despite the dismal state of politics there these days, I have many happy memories of my upbringing. My wife and I have two beautiful children with whom we share
14 10 chickens (damned foxes).
